Overview
The trailers are packed with real-world references. The woman dual-wielding hammers in trailer 1 recreates a real viral moment from Chatsworth, Los Angeles. Trailer 2's bar, seen twice, looks based on the Caribbean Club in the Keys, the filming location of the 1948 film Key Largo.
Vice City native Phil Cassidy appears on a TV ad for his ammunition store, a possible setup for a cameo. The same scene shows a PS5 and controller on the coffee table, fitting since trailer 2 was captured on PS5.
Wonder Whale is GTA 6's answer to Betsy the Lobster, the giant statue in the Florida Keys. Other nods include Wynwood-style mural districts, the Sahara Arena standing in for the Kaseya Center with the Skyviews wheel behind it, a Congo River Golf-style minigolf course, and a bar ad for an animal park with a Swampy-like giant gator statue.
